Investment Philosophy

DSM Capital Partners is a bottom-up, idea driven, growth stock firm with an intermediate to long-term investment horizon. Our ten person investment team combines intensive fundamental research with a rigorous valuation methodology that we believe reduces risk and enhances long term returns.

We search for growing businesses with attractive returns, solid business fundamentals, and intelligent management. Normally these businesses will have projected revenue and earnings growth of at least 10% annually and will frequently have higher returns on equity and assets than the average business. In addition and at least as importantly, the financial returns of the businesses are typically stable or rising, driven by improving business fundamentals.

Our large capitalization portfolio generally invests in twenty-five to thirty-five companies whose market capitalizations typically exceed $10 billion. Our SMIDs portfolio generally invests in thirty-five to forty-five companies whose market capitalizations are below $10 billion. Our global growth portfolio normally invests in thirty-five to fifty companies whose market capitalizations exceed $10 billion. Our global focus growth portfolio historically has ten or fewer positions in companies with market capitalizations normally in excess of $10 billion.
