Operations Infrastructure

Systems Backup

DSM’s trading system is hosted on mirrored live servers, the primary in a SAS70 bunker in Connecticut and the backup in a separate, protected location. Both servers have additional external backup drives. Separately, DSM’s in-house file servers are backed-up through an encrypted live transmission to DSM’s Disaster Recovery site.

Disaster Recovery

DSM’s Disaster Recovery site is a SAS70 bunker in New York State. Every employee has a “dedicated” seat with a telephone and customized “hot” PC wired to local servers. This arrangement mirrors DSM’s in-house systems for seamless DR operation. All trading systems and research services are available at the DR site.

Digital Records

As a best practice, DSM endeavors to digitize all operational and transaction records, account-related documents, required regulatory documents and important correspondence, such that all original documents are generally available to us in electronic form.

Trading Systems

DSM utilizes the integrated securities trading system of Indata, Gordon, Haskett & Company. Coupled with DSM’s proprietary portfolio management screens, we are able to trade securities in multiple countries and currencies, and settle into a large number of accounts custodied around the world.

Power Generation

DSM has a dedicated backup power generator that runs all systems, including associated cooling needs. All of our PC’s, servers, communication and other hardware also use battery backup units to bridge across generator start-up. The generator is powered by municipal natural gas.
